This project was never about commercializing hardcore or creating a product to sell. It was, and is, about bridging the huge gap between numerous low-quality cellphone sourced clips on YouTube and sparse, high-quality, multi-angle DVDs that come out months after the excitement of the show has died down. I knew early on that people would still want a tangible copy to watch on their TVs and whatnot, but it's just not feasible to make everyone happy. However, I do what I can to meet people half-way. The concept of DIY is a powerful one and I encourage people to take advantage of it. I'm unable to make DVDs for everyone, but I make it possible for you to make them yourselves. Below is a quick overview on how to do it:
  1. Sign up for a free account on vimeo
  2. Go to vimeo.com/hate5six and find a video of your choosing
  3. Once on the video page, scroll down and click Download this video or right-click and choose "Save As". This file is in .mp4 format and is in a much higher quality than what you are able to watch on the web. It's also pretty much ready to be burned.
  4. Repeat steps 1-2 for as many sets as you desire (note that there is a limit on the number of files you can download per day and the number of times a FILE can be downloaded cumulatively each day, so be aware and check back if you can't download it).
  5. Use your favorite DVD burning software, make a pretty menu, burn, and enjoy! If you don't have a burner, find someone who does.
Most videos are available for download with a few exceptions. Make copies for your friends, give them out at shows, but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD THESE DVDs BE SOLD OR USED AS TRADING COLLATERAL. I realize I cannot police this, but it is my hope that people will respect my request that all hate5six.com videos be freely available. Don't be a scumbag and profit off of someone else's work or another band's performance. It's really that simple. As long as people respect this I will continue making everything freely available. Also, if you choose to edit the videos, please keep the title screens in place (or cite hate5six.com accordingly). As always, if you would like to use any of the footage for a special project (music video, documentary, etc) please contact me and we will move forward from there. I support creative projects and almost always give the A-OK on projects using my videos...so just ask! Some people have had great results using this method for making their own custom DVDs. If you run into any problems, feel free to shoot me an e-mail and I'll see if I can troubleshoot your problem.
